Peters Statement on Recent Violence against Christians in Egypt

U.S. Representative Gary Peters today released the following statement regarding reports detailing new waves of violence targeting Christians in upper Egypt this week. Peters is a member of the Congressional Religious Minorities in the Middle East Caucus.

Peters said:"As unrest in Egypt continues, Coptic Christians are again being targeted by extremists. Their businesses and homes have been attacked and burned to the ground, forcing families to flee the communities they have been in for generations. This persecution must be stopped, and it is critical that minority religious communities like Coptic Christians have our support."
