Cassidy Criticizes Obama For Destroying Energy Jobs

Statement

Date: June 25, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. released the following statement on President Barack Obama's speech on reducing carbon pollution and giving more power to the EPA:

"The President's announcement that he will issue Executive Orders to advance his climate change agenda will have the effect of raising the cost of energy and destroying blue collar jobs in manufacturing, mining and construction. This is a continuation of the President's war on blue collar jobs which is evidenced by his shut down of new drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and his refusal to approve the Keystone XL pipeline.

"These actions highlight the need for legislation like the Energy Consumers Relief Act (H.R. 1582), which prohibits the EPA from finalizing rules that do little to help the environment but have adverse effects on the economy. Blue collar job growth is what America needs right now, not more regulation."
