Following Senate passage of S. 744; the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) released the following statement:

"Today is a monumental day for our country. Immigration reform continues to be one of the greatest challenges facing our country, today is an important step towards finding a solution. I applaud the Senators, from both sides of the aisle, for taking on the difficult task of addressing immigration reform head on. The Senate bill is not perfect, but it is a start.

"Immigration policy has serious consequences for thousands of families and businesses throughout the United States, especially in the Central Valley. Now it is time for the House to act. I am committed to joining with my colleagues in the House to develop a reasonable, responsible immigration plan."

Congressman David G. Valadao represents the 21st Congressional District, which includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kern counties.
