U.S. Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) released the following statement in response to the U.S. Senate passage of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act (S. 744):

"Passing comprehensive immigration reform that both strengthens our border and provides a clear pathway to citizenship is critical. I applaud Democrats and Republicans in the Senate for their vote today and for passing comprehensive immigration reform. Washington has let politics block progress for too long, failing to come together to address our broken immigration system. I am encouraged by this step and urge all my colleagues in the House to take action on comprehensive immigration reform."

Today, the U.S. Senate passed S. 744 by a vote of 68-32.
