Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada's First District released the following statement today after the Supreme Court issued its decision in Shelby County v. Holder that invalidates Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act:
"To say I am disappointed with the Supreme Court's decision would be an understatement. For half a century the VRA has protected the rights of voters. Today's decision undermines the progress that has been made and makes it all the more important for Congress to pick up the mantle of protecting suffrage for Americans in every jurisdiction."
