Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. was briefed on the Williams Olefins plant explosion in Geismar, Louisiana by Mr. Kevin Davis, the Director of the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. They discussed the fallout from the explosion and the state's response. Following the conversation, Congressman Cassidy issued the following statement:
"I was briefed by Kevin Davis, GOSHEP Director. I was relieved that fewer died than first reported and deeply sympathetic for the family of the one person who did die. We all hope and pray for a quick healing for those injured. I and my office will do whatever we can do to assist Governor Bobby Jindal, Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez, Sheriff Jeff Wiley and families of the victims."
