Cornyn Releases Text of RESULTS Amendment

Statement

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) formally unveiled the Requiring Enforcement, Security and safety while Upgrading Lawful Trade and travel Simultaneously (RESULTS) Amendment today. Text of his amendment is attached.

"It's understandable, and I believe justified, for the American people to be skeptical about Congress when it makes promises without any means to implement guaranteed results. The federal government has always said the right things when it comes to reassuring the American people, but it's never been able to translate those promises into results that are actually implemented.

"Americans are tired of hearing endless border security promises without seeing any realistic mechanism for guaranteeing results. My amendment would guarantee such a mechanism and it would guarantee the results that Washington has long promised but never delivered."

The bill is co-sponsored by Sens. Blunt (R-MO), Crapo (R-ID), Isakson (R-GA), Portman (R-OH), Hatch (R-UT), Alexander (R-TN), Burr (R-NC), Kirk (R-IL), Roberts (R-KS), Chambliss (R-GA), Hoeven (R-ND), Barasso (R-WY), and 7Johanns (R-NE).
