Joyce Demands Better Care and Services for Veterans

Today, Rep. Dave Joyce (OH-14) announced he's signed onto the VA Claims Efficiency Through Information Act of 2013, H.R. 1623. At a time in which approximately 850,000 American veterans await answers from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs regarding their compensation claims, this bill would improve transparency and efficiency in the VA claims process. Joyce released the following statement:

"America's servicemen and women are the best and brightest in the world and it's our duty to ensure they're receiving the care and services they need when returning home from combat. My district alone is home to nearly 40 veterans waiting to hear back from the VA and I won't stand for this. The enormous VA backlog is unacceptable and I demand better for our nation's heroes."

The VA Claims Efficiency Through Information Act of 2013 would:

· Make publicly accessible information about pending and completed claims for compensation, including detailed information of the performance of each regional office.

· Require VA to track the backlog of claims based on medical condition (IE hearing loss, PTSD, TBI), allowing them to evaluate which medical conditions are the most challenging and take the most time to process.

· Would require VA to provide all of this information in a weekly update that would be placed online and available to the public.
