Dear Neighbors,
I hope you had a happy Memorial Day weekend and that you took some time toremember those who lost their lives for our country. Throughout America's history, thousands of brave men and women have kept us safe and protected the freedoms that we cherish. We must never forget their service and sacrifice.
I was on Politics Tonight this week talking about my own military service and my efforts in Congress to help our Veterans. Listen to the interview.
This past week, I voted against H.R. 1911, a bill that would have subjected student loan interest rates to unpredictable increases. Instead, I offered an amendment that would have kept rates at 3.4% for the next two years. Student loans allow working families to send their children to college and have an opportunity to achieve the American dream. We cannot allow talented young Americans to have their dreams thwarted because we have lost sight of our priorities.
Finally, the end of May marks the end of Asian Pacific Heritage Month.
Best,
Congresswoman Duckworth
