Congresswoman Duckworth's Efforts Help Reverse TSA Knife Decision

Today, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth applauded a decision by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to drop its efforts to allow small knives on planes. On March 21 and May 22, Duckworth signed onto letters asking that the TSA withdraw its planned policy to permit passengers to bring knives in the aircraft cabin. Congresswoman Duckworth is also a cosponsor of the No Knives Act of 2013, which also prohibits knives from being allowed on planes.

"I am pleased that the TSA has listened to me and my colleagues and abandoned this dangerous policy," said Duckworth. "On September 11, 2001, terrorists used box cutters and knives to hijack three planes and it is essential that we do everything within our power to prevent this from happening again."
