Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement on President Obama's anticipated nomination of former U.S. Deputy Attorney General James Comey to head the FBI:

"Jim Comey demonstrated his commitment to the rule of law by standing up and speaking out at a time of great challenge to justice. He knows prosecuting and investigating from long and successful firsthand experience and he will bring high standards to the FBI. I am thankful that President Obama has made a bipartisan selection -- seeking the best person for the job -- and I hope that the Senate will give Mr. Comey's nomination prompt consideration."
