Wednesday the U.S. House voted for the seventh time in favor of the Keystone XL Pipeline, a transcontinental pipeline to carry crude oil from Canada and North Dakota to Oklahoma and Gulf Coast refineries. The project as undergone an extensive environmental review, is estimated to create thousands of jobs in Western and Midwestern states and supply U.S. refineries with nearly a million barrels of oil a day. Despite repeated support in the House, President Obama has promised to veto the legislation should it come to his desk.
"The full House has recognized the job creating potential of this project," U.S. Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo) said. "This is the opportunity to create thousands of jobs, to give a shot in the arm to communities in the West and Midwest, and to advance the cause of energy security. Now it's up to the Senate and this Administration to acknowledge what the rest of this country already knows: Keystone is the job creating economic boost our country needs. I call on the Senate and the President to make the right decision and finally put the Keystone pipeline in motion."
