Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (WV-02) released the following statement in response to the Federal Aviation Administration's decision to fund 149 contract towers through September.
"From the time sequestration took effect, the Obama Administration had the flexibility to keep contract towers open and air traffic controllers at work. Instead, the administration mismanaged the situation and chose to play political games by inflicting maximum pain on local communities from small reductions in government spending. I was proud to work with my colleagues in passing the bipartisan Reducing Flight Delays Act, which passed in the House by a vote of 361 to 41 and the Senate unanimously. This overwhelming display of unity finally shamed the president into acting in the best interests of safety and efficiency for air travelers in West Virginia, and in other communities across the country."
