Rokita Votes for Bill to End "Manufactured Crisis" by President Obama, FAA

Statement

U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita, a commercial-rated pilot, today issued the following statement after the House passed legislation to address the Federal Aviation Administration's air traffic controller furloughs:

"There is no reason why air traffic controllers ever needed to be furloughed, and to the extent that they were, it's only because the President wanted it. It's clear that the Obama Administration and the FAA, for political purposes, manufactured this "crisis' in an attempt to inflict as much pain as possible on the American people. The FAA had plenty of time to prepare for the sequester, and simply refused to do so.

"This bipartisan legislation passed by the House and Senate ensures that spending reductions remain in place and requires that they be made in a smarter way. Now it's time for the FAA and President Obama to act to stop unnecessary travel delays at our nation's airports," said Rokita.
