DeLauro Release On Senate Failure To Move Forward On Gun Violence Bill

Statement

Date: April 17, 2013
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Guns

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today after the Senate failed to pass the Toomey-Manchin amendment closing current loopholes in background checks for gun purchases:

"Outrage and anger are the most appropriate words to describe how I, and millions of Americans, feel after today's Senate vote. The Senate's inability to move forward on an issue that 90 percent of the country agrees on is shameful. How senators who voted against this proposal can look the families from Newtown, Aurora, Blacksburg and so many other places across this nation in the eye and tell them they did the right thing is beyond me."
