Stutzman on Tax Day: "I've Never Met a Family Who Thought They Weren't Paying Enough"

U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued the following statement marking Tax Day:

"Today, after a late night spent with worksheets and calculators, Hoosiers will mail checks to the IRS, which is on track to take in a record $2.7 trillion this year alone," said Stutzman. "In my district, I've never met a family who thought they weren't paying enough each April. President Obama started the year with a $600 billion tax hike and last week introduced a budget that includes a $1.1 trillion tax hike. These oppressive tax hikes only fuel more bureaucrat spending by draining the checkbooks of Hoosier families who are working to make ends meet at home."

Background:

The House Republican budget offers a clear alternative to the President's tax proposals. The House budget calls for real tax reform that eliminates special-interest loopholes, simplifies the tax code, and lowers rates for all Americans. The plan would consolidate the current seven individual income tax brackets into two brackets of 10 and 25 percent.
