Issa Remembers Margaret Thatcher

Rep. Darrell Issa (CA-49), Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, released the following statement on the passing of Baroness Margaret Thatcher.

"Today, the world says goodbye to a great leader -- Baroness Margaret Thatcher. As Prime Minister, her belief in conservativism and the free market ushered in an era of prosperity for the United Kingdom. Even after her time in office ended, her commitment to these principles did not. Many years ago, I had the good fortune to meet Lady Thatcher at a San Diego event.

"I look back at our own brief meeting several years ago and am struck by the impression her strength of character left on me. A passionate champion for individual liberty and a true friend to the people of the United States, Lady Thatcher inspired a generation to fight on. Her wisdom will be missed but her legacy lives."
