U.S. Congressman Peters Statement on House GOP Going into Recess Ahead of Sequestration

Statement

Date: Feb. 28, 2013

"With the job-killing sequestration set to begin tomorrow, the Republican Majority shouldn't end the workweek at noon on Thursday. It's no wonder that Michiganders are fed up with Congress. Even though I voted against sequestration, earlier this week I called on both parties to work across the aisle to reach a balanced agreement to prevent this self-inflicted Washington wound on the American people. With hundreds of Michigan teachers at risk of losing their jobs and thousands of our children set to lose Head Start support across our state, Greater Detroit families deserve better leadership from the Republican Majority."
