oday Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after President Obama announced that he would nominate Sylvia Mathews Burwell to be the next director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB):

"Sylvia Mathews Burwell has an extensive knowledge of budget issues and a proven track record of bringing people together to tackle the serious issues facing our nation. Our budget is more than numbers - it is a statement of our nation's priorities. Ms. Burwell shares President Obama's commitment to creating jobs and reducing our long-term deficit. I'm confident she will be an excellent leader of the Office of Management and Budget, and I look forward to working with her."
