At an Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Heath hearing this morning, Congressman Gus M. Bilirakis (R-FL) examined the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on job creation for American businesses. Among the topics the Congressman addressed were the law's impact on premiums in Florida, which are expected to substantially increase, and the uncertainty that is hindering businesses from implementing the rules of the law, delaying their ability to hire.
"With 12 million Americans still looking for work, we must focus on job creation," said Congressman Bilirakis. "Today's testimony demonstrated the Affordable Care Act will result in job loss, fewer hours for employees, reduction in employee compensation and increased premiums. We should be incentivizing businesses to grow and create jobs that provide the opportunity for advancement and increased wages. Americans deserve better, and the ACA is not fulfilling its promise of increased quality and lower healthcare costs."
