Cornyn Applauds Passage of Bill To Create University In South TX

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, today issued the following statement applauding Texas House passage of House Bill 1000, legislation to create a new university in South Texas that includes a medical school:

"This is an encouraging step toward opening the doors to a quality education for thousands of students in South Texas. A new university in South Texas will only serve to strengthen the region and its economy and better prepare the next generation of Texas leaders."
