Cornyn Statement After Meeting With the President

Statement

Date: March 14, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) issued the following statement after joining the Senate Republicans in meeting with President Obama:

"I'd like to thank the President for finally meeting with Senate Republicans today. Budgeting is about setting priorities, and today was a good opportunity to have a conversation about what our nation's priorities ought to be.

"After today's meeting, it is clear to me that balancing our budget and cutting bloated Washington spending are not President Obama's top priorities. The President and I have significant disagreements on many issues - my priority will always be to fight for Texas values, and against excessive spending and government overreach."
