Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) released the following statement tonight following his opposition to Senator Chuck Hagel's confirmation as Secretary of Defense.

"Senator Hagel's record on Israel and Iran is unacceptable, and sends the wrong message to our allies around the world. We need a Secretary of Defense who is going to stand firm in the face of an ever- dangerous world, not one who has been unwilling to call Hezbollah a terrorist organization. Mr. Hagel's confirmation hearings failed to show the American people they could be confident in his decision making as Secretary, and I sincerely hope he proves my concerns unwarranted moving forward."
