Collins Statement on Benghazi Hearing with Secretary of State Clinton

Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) released the below response regarding Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's testimony at yesterday's hearing before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. Her testimony centered around the terrorist attacks on the American consulate in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. Due to Secretary Clinton's time constraints, many Members, including Representative Collins, were unable to question her on the failures of the Administration that led to the tragic death of four Americans. Collins will submit his questions for the Secretary to her in writing.

"Civil servants and their families who are serving our country overseas deserve to know that their safety and security is a priority of the State Department. Unfortunately, this Administration failed to provide for the basic security needs of its diplomats, resulting in the tragic deaths of four Americans following attacks on the Benghazi consulate. While I appreciate Secretary Clinton coming to Capitol Hill today, questions still remain. The American people have yet to receive the full truth from the Obama Administration on what really happened in Benghazi, and who was ultimately responsible for what occurred. I will continue to work alongside my colleagues in the House to ensure this never happens again and our foreign service officers have the full protection of the federal government."
