Congressman Doug Collins (R-GA) has signed on as an original co-sponsor of H.R. 273, the complete elimination of the 2013 statuary pay adjustment for federal employees put in place by the Obama Administration. Sponsored by Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), this legislation will be a continuation of the Congressional Pay Freeze and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2012. Rep. Collins voiced his support of the original legislation last month before taking office.
"It's still an absolute shock that President Obama would enlist the help of an unjust Executive Order to increase paychecks for members of Congress," Collins said. "That is what you call an extremely out-of-touch Commander-in-chief, and it reiterates the fact that we have an executive branch that believes $16 trillion dollars of debt is some kind of joke. Well I'm here to tell those hardworking bureaucrats it's not. I appreciate my colleague from Florida for drafting this responsible piece of legislation, and it's my hope the Senate will bring it to a vote as quickly as possible."
