Collins Reads US Constitution on the House Floor

Statement

Date: Jan. 15, 2013
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Constitution

In participation with H.Res. 5, The House Rules Package sponsored by Majority Leader Eric Canter (R-VA), Congressman Doug Collins (R-GA) spent Tuesday morning with his colleagues reading the United States Constitution in its entirety. Following the reading, he released the following statement:

"Every action I take in Congress will be done with careful precision to what our Constitution defines and proclaims," Collins said. "I took it very seriously when I swore an oath to defend and protect this sacred document, both as an airman in the United States Air Force Reserves and as a member of Congress. Our Constitution is the unyielding force that unifies our nation, legitimizes every action of our government and protects the inalienable rights of American citizens -- it is precious. As long as I have the honor to represent the Ninth District of Georgia everything in my power will be done to protect its sanctity."
