Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) released the following announcement statement about the newly-designated slots at Washington National Airport with service to Jackson:
"Today, I am pleased to announce that the Department of Transportation has awarded two daily flights between Jackson and Washington to Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA). For business travelers, the new slots will mean easier access to Washington, without having to go through Atlanta. For leisure travelers, the announcement creates more options for vacation planning and the like. This move creates more choices for the people of Mississippi, and that's great.
"I look forward to February 28, 2005, when the new service is expected to have begun."
