STRAIGHT TALK WITH SAM
Counting Our Blessings
As you read this you hopefully have already selected your bird, stocked up on sweet potatoes and stuffing and have a pumpkin pie cooling. Thanksgiving is our annual holiday to remember that we are blessed. There is no doubt that once again this year, we have much to be thankful for.
We are blessed to live in a society of heroes. We have men and women who are willing to travel halfway around the world to fight terror so that we can be safe. In this Holiday season we need to remind them that we miss them and that we are proud of their service to our country.
We have men and women here at home who run into burning buildings even when everyone else is running out. We are blessed with men and women who patrol our streets in the dead of night and who respond to emergencies no matter the time.
We are blessed to live in a country that is more prosperous than any other this world has ever known. A country where a dream, hard work and a little common sense can take you anywhere you want to go.
While each family has its own unique gifts to be thankful for, Americans can be thankful that they still live in the land that produces so many heroes.
I hope that this Thanksgiving finds you and your family well. In this holiday season, it's just one more thing to be thankful for.
