Pelosi: 'Republicans Show Disrespect to the American People'

Washington, D.C - House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the Republican leadership's decision to pass another continuing resolution instead of reforming the process under which Members of Congress are only given a few hours to consider massive bills:

"Today's actions were a clear demonstration of the failure of Republican leadership. First they neglected to bring required spending bills to the floor, then they added insult to injury by forcing them into a single omnibus bill. To make matters worse, Republicans rushed that legislation through the House of Representatives under 'martial law' rules that waived the required three days of review. Because of this abuse of power, taxpayers became the victim.

"Democrats are determined to end the irresponsible use of martial law rules. The process Republicans are engaged in is an embarrassment to our institution and shows disrespect to the American people, whose voices should be heard."
