In the short term, the State should offer tax incentives to small businesses that hire more Delawareans and build new facilities. Tax cuts too often lead to more money sitting on the sidelines in bank accounts, but incentives create action. I'm saying to business owners, "You show us that you're adding to your payroll or building new facilities with Delaware labor, and we'll reward you in the form of tax credits."
In the long term, we need to create a business friendly environment with low taxes, reasonable regulation, and an educated, capable workforce to attract new companies and encourage our small businesses to hire more employees.
