I believe that government does not create jobs, business does.

We have a well educated labor force that can get the job done in the 137th Assembly District. Unfortunately, we have the highest utility rates, worker's compensation and many other state government regulations which keep business out. Companies like Vulcraft Steel in Chemung, Synthes in Big Flats, X-Gen Pharmaceuticals in Big Flats and the Best Buy distribution facility in Tioga created jobs that have benefited our community because of programs like the recently cancelled[sic] Empire Zone. Instead of eliminating programs that attract job creators our state needs to recognize that businesses are over-regulated and pay too many fees. Only when those issues are addressed will we begin attracting jobs at a greater pace.
