* Ensure small businesses have access to the capital they need
* Create a Microbusiness Outreach Center, to support businesses with less than 4 employees
* Provide men and women with the tools they need to start and grow their own small business

Tim believes small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy. Over 90 percent of all employers are small businesses. Small businesses employ half of all private sector employees and have generated over 65 percent of net new jobs over the past 17 years. That is why immediately after taking office, Tim created his Small Business Advisory Board to ensure that small businesses have input into the decision making process.Senator Kennedy with Dave Sullivan, owner of Industrial Support Inc.

Tim proposed a new designation for microbusinesses -- businesses with less than 4 employees -- to ensure that they have access to the capital they need to strengthen and retain entrepreneurship. Microbusinesses are the backbone of our economy and the future of job creation. For that reason, Tim also sponsored legislation to create Microbusiness Outreach Centers. These centers would provide hardworking men and women with the tools they need to start and grow their own small business.

Tim sponsored measures to supply small business energy loans, which provide access to capital and encourage energy efficient business models. Tim helped create a funding stream for local support organizations to leverage charitable and private sector support for microenterprise development. These measures increase access to capital, technical and training assistance for small businesses.

Small businesses are the engine of job creation, which is why we need to provide them with the support and information they need to grow and thrive.
