John will work to reduce the property tax burden for middle class families. As a matter of fact, he already has lowered taxes, as indicative of less school district taxes on peoples property taxes. Even with the passing of the levy this past year for Anoka Hennepin School District, property taxes wentdown. John's opponent for the state senate ran on lowering taxes yet he voted to raise property taxes by eliminating the home stead credit. The republican majority thought they have found a hidden and quiet way to raise revenue by cutting LGA funding, and shifting money from the schools, forcing an increase in property taxes. The majority forced a cause and effect on property taxes and pushed schools into levy requests or borrowing. And now they deny they raised taxes. This manipulation, and smoke and mirrors taxation by the majority and John's opponent, must be stopped and John will work for tax reform that establishes a fair and equitable tax policy. Middle income Minnesotans($31,000-$90,000) pay an overall state tax rate of 12.2%, the top 5% ($182,000 and up) pay only a 10% rate and the very top 1% of Minnesotans ($429,000 andup) pay only 9.7%. These are the facts and John will work for tax reform that is more fair and balanced. Isn't it time for tax policy that makes sense? John thinks so.
