As a member of the Governor's Advisory Council on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education, Karen is working closely with leaders in education and industry to craft policy to prepare the workforce of the 21st century for jobs in sectors such as high-tech manufacturing, clean energy, and biotech.
With global competition on the rise--and good paying jobs going unfilled because of lack of proper skills--she feels that this is some of the most important work we can be doing as a state right now.
Karen also voted to fully fund our workforce training programs this year, as these are crucial for career changers in gaining the skills they need to get stable, well-paying jobs.
Karen belives we all need to be lifelong learners to thrive. She will continue to fight to ensure that the educational resources are available to keep our competitive edge.
