Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Applauds Nomination of Rice for Secretary of State

WASHINGTON-Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) today applauded President George W. Bush for selecting National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice to be the next Secretary of State.

"Dr. Rice is incredibly intelligent, extremely accomplished and more than capable of fulfilling the duties of this position," Diaz-Balart said. "She is a pillar of strength and resolve with few peers. I strongly applaud the president for her nomination.

"In nominating Alberto Gonzales for Attorney General and Condoleeza Rice for Secretary of State, President Bush continues to demonstrate that he understands the threats and challenges facing the United States today," Diaz-Balart concluded.
