Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Applauds Bush Nominee Gonzales for Attorney General
WASHINGTON-Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) today praised President George W. Bush for nominating White House Counsel Alberto Gonzalez to be the new Attorney General. If confirmed, Gonzales will be the first Hispanic appointed to Attorney General.
"Alberto Gonzales is clearly capable of handling the duties of Attorney General and I applaud President Bush for nominating him for this esteemed position," Diaz-Balart said. "President Bush once again demonstrates that he understands and cares about Hispanics.
"Alberto Gonzales' confirmation will be a success for America and a great boost to the Hispanic community," Diaz-Balart continued. "He has an incredible life story with humble beginnings, and his nomination is a towering testament to his character and also to the greatness of America.
"I encourage the Senate to quickly confirm this well-qualified nominee."
