Having grown up in Washington and then going to work in dozens of countries around the world, I know firsthand what freedom means.
I believe strongly in the sanctity of our Constitution. I believe that protecting our liberties is one of the most important duties as a legislator, and I will work to both protect and restore the liberties guaranteed in our United States Constitution. I believe in transparency and openness in government as bedrock values for our democracy. As your Senator, I promise these five things:
1. I will remain steadfast in preserving our personal liberties. This means voting no on legislation that grants warrantless wiretaps, detains Americans with due process or trial, and any other blatant violations of our constitutional rights.
2. I will protect and uphold our Second Amendment rights. The right to keep and bear arms is essential to our freedom.
3. I will act as a watchdog for property rights. I will not take extreme environmental positions that allow the federal government to impede private property rights.
4. I will immediately support regular audits of the Federal Reserve. In the 99 years that the Federal Reserve has existed, it's never once been audited. Americans have demanded to know what goes on in our central bank-- in fact, 74% of the public is in favor of auditing the Fed.
5. I will stand against expansions of presidential power to conduct war without the authorization of Congress. We need to prevent the checks and balances of our system from being eroded.
Cantwell has proven that she has little respect for the limits imposed by the Constitution -- she voted to extend warrantless wiretaps, to detain American citizens without due process, and has taken environmental positions that gravely threaten private property rights.
Maria Cantwell has proven that she can't, or won't, defend the liberties that made our country great. Together, you and I will.
