Issue Position

Donald Wong knows the value of a quality education for all students. But he also knows how some communities are struggling to provide funding for subjects and services that were once part of every child's school day. Curriculum areas like music, art, and physical education have been reduced, and even eliminated in some school districts. Funding for after-school activities including fine arts and sports have been all but eliminated in many towns and cities.

Donald is an avid supporter of public education and a founding member of the Saugus Business Partnership. He has been instrumental in assisting this organization to provide tens of thousands of dollars to retain school programs and community services that would otherwise have been eliminated. As chairman of the Adopt-a-School Program, Donald has again secured funding for individual school projects through benevolent businesses supporting the Saugus Business Education Collaborative. Donald will continue to find solutions to subsidize education at the state level.

Donald also knows that all communities should receive equitable funding through Chapter 70 and that the current formula needs to be adjusted. Donald will work to correct this inequity.
