When Republicans took control of the Assembly, we inherited a backlog of old bills and a $3.6 billion structural deficit. They made tough yet sound financial decisions to balance the state budget without raising taxes. Local governments now have more tools they need to balance their own budgets. Undoubtedly, there will be more financial challenges ahead for the state, which I plan to tackle openly and honestly with the taxpayers' best interests in mind.
