Mining:
I am in favor of opening Wisconsin to iron and copper mining so long as it meets the strictest of environmental standards to protect our ecosystem. Rejection by the State Senate of the last mining proposal presented by Gogebic, a division of The Cline Group, sends a clear message that Wisconsin does not welcome iron and copper mining in the State. The mine was expected to create hundreds of long-term, high paying jobs. These jobs would in turn have a dramatic, positive effect on the economy of Northern Wisconsin. I will work hard to bring these high paying mining jobs to Wisconsin.
Tourism:
The 34th District depends heavily on tourism as it makes up large part of our economy. Gov. Walker has allocated funds for advertising and promotion of the tourism industry, and I intend to use those funds for maximum efficiency throughout the 34th District. As a small business owner in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, I know first hand how tourism affects our business. I also received the endorsements of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association and the The Tavern League of Wisconsin.
Taxes:
I will support Governor Walker in lowering taxes for job creators in Wisconsin. We all know what is happening in California, New York and other states where corporate taxes are making it nearly impossible to do business. Companies are relocating their business to states with lower taxes and a skilled work force, and I will work hard to make Wisconsin one of those states.
