SCHUMER SECURES OVER $1.9 MILLION FOR HOSPITAL FOR SPECIAL SURGERY IN NEW YORK CITY

Funding Part of the FY 2005 Omnibus Appropriations Bill

Funding will be used for expansion of Musculoskeletal Research Center

US Senator Charles E. Schumer today announced Congress will pass $1,900,000 in federal funding for the Hospital For Special Surgery in New York City. The funding was included in the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations section of the Fiscal Year 2005 Omnibus Appropriations bill. The bill now heads to the President for his signature.

"The National Center on Musculoskeletal Research will be of great service to health care. It's specific research agenda includes work on the treatment and possible cure of diseases such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis which affect millions of Americans and New Yorkers," Schumer said.
