SCHUMER SECURES $500,000 FOR LANGUAGE LAB AT HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY

Funding included in the FY05 Omnibus Appropriations bill

The funding will be used for a High Technology Language Laboratory and two classrooms

US Senator Charles E. Schumer today announced that Congress passed the FY2005 Omnibus Appropriations bill which included $500,000 for a new high technology language laboratory at Hofstra University. The funding was included in the Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations portion of the bill. The bill now heads to the President for his signature.

"In this day and age of a global economy, its important that our students have all the resources they need to communicate with other parts of the world," Schumer said. "Hofstra has an outstanding language program- with options for students to study anything from Arabic to Chinese and this funding is only going to increase the opportunities for students to learn other languages using the latest technology."
