Prescription drug assistance

Throughout his career in the Legislature, Michael has been a staunch proponent of initiatives to help combat the high cost of prescription drugs for those who can't afford them. His efforts are evidenced by the creation of the Prescription Advantage program provides prescription assistance to seniors and again more recently through the passage of Co-Pay Cost Relief legislation, which will open access to co-pay assistance and prescription discount programs in the Commonwealth.

· Health Care Reform

Massachusetts can point with distinction to the fact that over 97% of its residents have health insurance, the highest rate in the nation. Michael and his colleagues in the Legislature laid the groundwork for health care reform legislation which was eventually signed into law by then Governor Romney and implemented with much success, resulting in nearly all of the Commonwealth's residents carrying some form of health care
