SCHUMER SECURES $300,000 FOR WASTEWATER SERVICES FOR CUMBERLAND HEAD IN PLATTSBURGH

Funding part of FY 2005 Omnibus Appropriations Bill

Federal Funding would be used for sewage collection and treatment on the Cumberland Head peninsula on Lake Champlain

US Senator Charles E. Schumer today that Congress passed the FY2005 Omnibus Appropriations bill last night which includes $300,000 in federal funding for wastewater services on Cumberland Head peninsula in Plattsburgh. The funding is included in the Veterans Affairs - Housing and Urban Development (VA-HUD) section of the bill. The bill will now be sent to the President for his signature.

"This funding is great news for the growing community on Cumberland Head peninsula. Proper treatment of sewage on Lake Champlain not only benefits the residents but the environment as well," Schumer said. "Lake Champlain attracts people for its beautiful shorelines and this funding will help ensure it stays that way while providing the high quality public services New Yorkers deserve."
