SCHUMER SECURES $500,000 FOR THE HUDSON RIVER VALLEY NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA

Hudson River Valley will use funds to promote awareness of their heritage sites to increase attendance and tourism

Funding included in the FY2005 Omnibus Appropriations bill passed late Saturday night

US Senator Charles E. Schumer announced today that Congress passed the Fiscal Year 2005 Omnibus Appropriations Bill, which included $500,000 for the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area to increase awareness and access to heritage sites. The funds were included in the Interior Appropriations portion of the bill. The bill now heads to the President for his signature.

"This is great news for the Hudson River Valley," said Schumer. "These funds will enable the Hudson River Valley to promote all aspects of its rich historical and cultural assets, such as the Hudson River School of Art, the American Revolution, and the region's industrial heritage. This should result in greater tourism and economic benefits for the entire area."
