Schumer, Clinton Secure $6.5 Million for Rochester Renaissance Square Project/$5.5 Million for Rochester Central Bus Terminal

SCHUMER, CLINTON SECURE $6.5 MILLION FOR ROCHESTER RENAISSANCE SQUARE PROJECT; $5.5 MILLION FOR ROCHESTER CENTRAL BUS TERMINAL

Funding included in FY05 Omnibus Appropriations bill

Both projects vital to redevelopment of downtown area success

US Senators Charles E. Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton today announced that Congress passed the $6.5 million for the Rochester Renaissance Square as well as $5.5 million for the Rochester Central Bus Terminal. The funds are listed in the Transportation, Treasury, and Independent Agencies Appropriations section of the Fiscal Year 2005 Omnibus Appropriations bill which passed Congress this weekend. It is expected that the bill will be sent to the President in the coming weeks for his signature.

"The Renaissance Square is going to be a shot in the arm for Rochester's downtown area," Schumer said. "Rochester has so much to offer and the Renaissance Square is going to become the artistic and transportation center of it all, enriching both the culture and the economy of this great city ."

"With this funding, I know that the Renaissance Square will grow the opportunities available to all the people of Rochester," Senator Clinton said. "There is great promise in the economic development, transportation, and community growth aspects of this project and I am grateful to help the community fulfill its vision."
