Senators Kennedy and Kerry, Rep. McGovern Announce $3.2 Million for Worcester Area Parks

SENATORS EDWARD M. KENNEDY AND JOHN F. KERRY AND CONGRESSMAN JIM MCGOVERN ANNOUNCE $3.2 MILLION FOR WORCESTER AREA PROJECTS

U.S. Representative Jim McGovern (D-MA), U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA) and U.S. Senator John Kerry (D-MA) today announced that they have secured over $3.2 million for projects in the Worcester area.

"I'm thrilled at we were able to accomplish so much this year for education, health care, public safety, environment and economic development in the Worcester area," Rep. McGovern said. "Today's announcement demonstrates that the federal government - particularly our congressional delegation - will remain committed to improving the quality of life for families in Central Massachusetts. I look forward to continuing this work in the next Congress."

"We're very pleased with the results for the Worcester area, because the projects we championed are innovative and important to the region," Sen. Kennedy said. "Worcester is emerging as a national leader in the sciences and in higher education and these projects reflect that. I'm grateful to our colleagues for recognizing the merits of these proposals, and look forward to continuing our work together in the years ahead."

"These projects will make meaningful investments in health care, the environment and economic development for every Worcester family. And, I am pleased we will continue the research to locate first responders in honor of the six Worcester firefighters who gave their lives in 1999," Senator Kerry said.
