Senators Kennedy and Kerry, Rep. Markey Secure Over 9 Million Dollars for 7th District

SENATORS KENNEDY AND KERRY, REP. MARKEY SECURE OVER 9 MILLION DOLLARS FOR 7TH DISTRICT

Washington, D.C. - Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA), Senator John F. Kerry (D-MA) and Representative Edward J. Markey (D-MA) today announced that the 7th District of Massachusetts is set to receive $9.231 million in federal funds for various projects in the Fiscal Year 2005 Omnibus Appropriations bill. The House approved the spending bill on Saturday November 20.

"Senator Kerry, Representative Markey, and I have been working hard to bring Federal investment to the region in transportation, social services, healthcare and education," said Senator Kennedy. "These projects will strengthen our state's ability to meet the challenges of the new century and continue to provide quality services to the people of Massachusetts."

"These projects will help reduce commuting times, expand access to quality health care and make other important investments in education and technology in our area," Senator Kerry said. "By making these investments in our communities, we are investing in our future. I am pleased to work with Congressman Markey and Senator Kennedy to obtain funding for these important initiatives."

Rep. Markey said: "Our district received a real boost from the Federal government over the weekend. From constructing a new Emergency Department in Everett, to expanding the River's Edge development project, to fixing our roads, these funds will help meet the growing needs of our community. These projects will create new jobs while enhancing the health, education, safety and beauty of our towns."
