SCHUMER: $10,000 COMING TO BURCHFIELD - PENNEY ART CENTER IN BUFFALO

Funds will be used for project that will feature works by Cuban American artists

Senator Charles E. Schumer announced today that the Burchfield-Penney Art Center at Buffalo State College will receive a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support their "Art on the Hyphen: Cuban American Art in Western New York State" project. The funds are allocated through the NEA's "Challenge America: Serving Every Community" fast-track program designed to provide greater support for arts projects in undeserved communities through the United States.

"The Burchfield-Penney is one of Buffalo's cultural gems, and the new museum being planned to house it will put another great architectural landmark on Buffalo's landscape," Schumer said. "It's a great investment for Buffalo and for the whole country."
