Clyde will work to improve our schools. Because of our Assembly-member's policies, more schools have been closed in our neighborhoods than most districts in New York. We are in an education emergency. Even the students that graduate High School are starting their adult lives after graduating from failed institutions.
Our educational statistics are dismal. Our schools have been consistently declining for decades. Our current assembly-member was and continues to be instrumental in closing our schools for over a decade. We are in an educational crisis. In fact, according to the Assembly-member's website, she was "a forerunner of the small school initiative in NYC, she was instrumental in converting Andrew Jackson High School, which originally housed approximately 3500 students, into four small magnet high schools."
Clyde will work to improve our schools by (1) supporting policy that promotes supporting our schools with the proper resources and funding and not simply closing schools, (2) supporting successful proven programs that properly educate our children, (3) supporting teachers and staff that work effectively and (4) promoting community and parent involvement.
